Merry Christmas everyone, though this is a bit late!:)
Christmas was pretty much spent eating and eating.
First up was Christmas potluck at Kenneth's. Joined by Xiaoling, Denis, Chris, Caroline, Roxanne, Yinru and Big G , Aaron, Alfred and I had a splendid time, not only eating but playing cranium!
The food was fantastic! There was roast beef (aaron), salmon and cheesecake (alfred), beef curry (roxanne), mashed potatoes, some leek dish, walnut and syrup pie! loads of food which left us so full!
Cranium was fun as well. We played by flats: Kenneth's flat (Kenneth, Chris, Xiaoling, Denis), Aaron's flat (Aaron, Alfred and me) and Miscellaneous flats (Yinru, Roxanne, Big G and Caroline). Our team pretty much choose datahead cards all the time (general knowledge stuff, including iambic parameters and identifying the north star!), Caroline's team pretty much chose star performer cards (charades, humming, etc), and Kenneth's team chose a lot of sketching cards (pictionary, drawing with your eyes closed). Was pretty amusing game really, with lots of laughs at each other and at ourselves.
Christmas day itself started out with some humble indomee and guo teh, followed by rigorous preparation for the roast beef and roast chicken (by aaron), apple strudel (by yours truely, 1st time too! though i must admit i had a 2 hour nap after lunch). Folk finally arrived at ard 745, with max in the lead with his scallops and PRC accent; nick with his vegetables and yinru with her cucumber salad!:)
chatted till really late and i thought max didn't want to leave at one point. don't get me wrong we love the boy, it's just that we had to be up for 645 the next day to go for boxing day sales!:)
Today's boxing day, a venerable day for shopping in the UK. Next opened at 7am, so Big G gave us a lift down. Thanks goodness we were there at the start, cos we had more breathing space. I came away with 11 pairs of trousers, 3 tops, a pair of gloves, 2 pairs of bunny slippers and a leather jacket! Nice work clothes and you won't get them any cheaper any other time of the year!:) Next sales are 50% or more off! tt's why it gets really crowded. Aaron managed to get 2 coats and a hoodies from Next, and Alfred got a shirt, a scarf, a beanie, 2 coats and socks from Next as well. Thank goodness Big G had his car, so we could dump our Next shopping and head back into the fold for round 2!
Got 2 more pairs of trousers at Dorothy Perkins and a datebook from Calender club, browsed Monsoon, Oasis, Jane Norman, Zara, Zaavi (virgin essentially, where Aaron acquired David Attenbourough Life Collection) and a few other shops but didn't get anything.
Had lunch at Subway then headed home to try on all my new stuff! have to return 3 pairs of trousers to next: 1 was the wrong size, 1 was the wrong fit, and 1 was made of wool (can only dry clean lah)
overall quite a good haul, though i must say besides next, the other shops were so disappointing in terms of sales. oh well, saves me some money!
