Dilemma! Dilemma!

I have been assigned RAH (a hospital which takes me 50 mins to get there by bus and walking) for my surgery block. it would cost me approximately 4 quid to get there and back (i think). i would have to be there 5 days a week, and there is no free accomodation there unlike the other hospitals.

I have been offered a swap to IRH (which would cost me slightly more to get there). but they provide free accomodation, and it'll save me travelling one hour there and one hour back. however, i will have already had one block in IRH, but in medicine, not surgery.

so should i go for the swap?

in other news, how i spent my day at city hall. you'd think it impossible to spend an entire afternoon in city hall. afterall, it's not terribly huge, and if you're not really into walking, you'd probably venture as far as city link mall.

but it so happened that i met bert for lunch. both of us were rather sleepy looking creatures: bert, from an orientation camp that ended yesterday; me, from erm pure laziness?

we ended up in asiankitchen, a restaurant in the new renovated B1 of raffles city, had a nice chat then moved over to starbucks on level 1 to chat somemore.

i remembered that kai had texted me to say that she might be available for dinner, so i texted her at 4 to ask if she was free (since bert had to rush home to get his stuff for dragonboat practice), and she said she was, and that she'd meet me at.. raffles city at 530!

so i hung around raffles city, trying to figure out what i could do to occupy my time for 1.5 hrs. as i walked through city link mall (well, there's more to see there than in raffles city, at least for me), the answer appeared in front of me, MPH! we used to call it mad people's hospital when we were kids, but yes, a bookstore will definitely keep me occupied for hours! of course, i succumbed to 4 books eventually (so would you if you'd spent an hour in there): 3 CS Lewis books (including the screwtape letters, which i've been wanting to read for a long time), and Hotel Babylon (which is now a TV show, but started as a book read on BBC radio), real tales about the ins and outs of a hotel from someone who works in the hotel industry (not my mum haha). managed to get a free mug as well, the CSI miami one.

then met up with kai and headed back down to B1 fror ding tai fung. the xiao long baos and the la mien were pretty good i must say. comparable to crystal jade! chatted loads with kai as well. (we were quite bitchy abt certain pple at some points i must say!) we headed to gloria jean's (my 1st time there i think), and chatted for a while more before she had to head off. then went to meet mum at cafe swiss on level 2 before we headed home together.

there you have it. my whole day at raffles city! family and friends really do make the world go round...
