sunday began at 9am when the eyes opened, but only really got going at 10, when i finally got out of bed, changed and hopped into the car.
we got to colonial williamsburg by about 11+ and had quite a hard time finding a place, so we had to do a little walking this time round.
as we started walking from the visitor's centre (where you can rent period costumes and walk around in traditional garb all day!) to the actual historic area, we realised that we had to do A LOT of walking, haha.
and walk we did, but found ourselves utterly bored out of our minds. thank goodness we decided not to buy tickets, it woul have been a waste of money.
it was really really hot as well. by 2pm, after a spot of lunch at one of the taverns (aaron had some stew with a corn muffin and lemonade, and i had a smoked beef brisket burger with root beer), we were more than ready to drag our tired asses out of there. i mean it IS interesting to see restored houses and see actors around the various places acting out scenes from the past, but that can only take you so far.
we decided to try another of the malls (getting lost along the way as usual), called patriot plaza premium outlets (same parent company as the one we visited in nyc), but i think it's been closed down, and what was left was some obscure shops that i'd never even heard of before. mostly selling home furnishings. haha. so that was a bit pointless.
we headed back to prime outlets, and did MORE shopping. i know. i can't believe it either!
we hung out there till ard 6+, then we decided to head back, for fear of getting lost. but guess what, we did the exact same thing and got lost again! this time though, we could actually see our surroundings, and pulled out a map and managed to find our way back safely.
for dinner, we decided to try famous dave's bar-b-que, which turned out to be an EXCELLENT choice. the baby back ribs were really really really good, the louisiana ribs, rib tips, and pork, were rather dry (with the pork being the driest) but... this time we had 6 different types of sauces: devil's spit, texas pit, sweet and zesty, rich and sassy, honey mustard, and well, heinz's ketchup haha. we also had an onion string basket starter. it was a REALLY good meal, cheaper than TGIF's and certainly more worth the money. i was so full we had to take away most of my meal, along with the chips, corn on the cob and corn muffins as well.
after dinner we drove around trying to find a pharmacy (aaron's mum wants glucosamine), a grocery store (we didn't have any b/fast), both to no avail; and a petrol station (you have to return the car with the same amount of fuel in it), which we managed to.
then home it was and to bed, for tmr is another monday!
