the 1st op consisted of replacing a tissue expander with an implant, and to resize the normal boob so that both her boobs look symmetrical.
the 2nd op was 3 hours long and consisted of taking part of your abdominal wall (along with its blood supply) and fashioning it into a boob. got to see the making of a new belly button too! really interesting procedure that kept me on my feet for quite a while.
tmr will be a half day so that'll hopefully bring a good end to a fascinating week (which i suspect won't be repeated! i don't think plastic surgery is a rotation in med sch)
will be missing the 21st/oteam gathering in sg on the 29th, but i think i've certainly made up for it with my time here in the states.
sometimes i think us and the scots/irish are so different, and the fact that we've been thrown together for 1 month has made things sometimes awkward for me. i may not agree with their views, or want to do the things that they do, which has left me feeling a bit antisocial and left out to an extent. maybe it's cos i'm just tired, or maybe it's cos we ARE culturally different. or, it could just be that i'm feeling a bit down (i blame the hormones) and i'm just feeling these things cos of my mood. either way, should try to think positive and keep my energies up. after all, i still have one week left in the states, and they've been a lovely bunch of people to live with
america is making me depressed in some ways. their policies on health insurance, the fact that nearly every kid is being put on ritalin or some sort of mood altering drug, and how false i think some of them are (i suppose there is some degree of that in every society) has left me feeling a bit jaded (and this is just in one month).
i think i made the right choice going to study in the UK, but my home will always be in Singapore.
