July 3: Start of CJW placement

Day 1 was just orientation, we started at 9am and ended at 730pm

We got a tour of the hospital, and got a talk about their gamma knife and about the cool tools they have in radiation oncology. It was really interesting. I’ve never seen a gamma knife before! It’s such a simple procedure, it’s the planning that’s the killer.

We were quite welcome everywhere though, and everyone said they can’t wait to work with us.

We went over from the Johnstone-Willis campus to the Chippenham campus, to look at their cardiology centre. So spacious, and quite well staffed too! So unlike the hospitals in Glasgow. But then again CJW is a private hospital.

Then we headed to the public library to use the internet, and were shown ard the various clinics that are outside CJW. One is at a mall !!!

Everything is so far apart: they don’t have pavements to walk on, and you drive EVERYWHERE.
