there was a patient in the morning that was psychotic... no joke.. had to restrain her and stuff... obviously a case for admission.. however... the mum was a whole different story...
for one she refused to let us sedate the girl.... and then refused to admit her... the doctor lost her patience with the mum in the end and stated for a fact that the mum would not be equipped to handle the patient at home.. the mum stiff refused... the girl thrashed ard and was violent to the nurse.. the doctor.. and even her mum.. it was sad to see such a case.. somewhat a "spare the rod spoil the child" kinda case.. the mum thought it was BAD to sedate her despite her violent tendencies.. at the end of the day.. the mum called back to say the daughter was back to the same state she was in the clinic.. yelling hysterically.. talking to the voices in her head and being very restless.... in fact she wanted to open the cab door while the cab was in motion and wanted to jump out of the cab
can't blame the mum for hoping for the best.. but at the same time.. there are times when you realise those you love require more help than you can give.. and that some pple really can't help themselves even with support from you.. they NEED meds to get well.... sigh
was also explained the principles of electro shock therapy.. apparantly.. when you are severely depressed... your brain fires of so many synapses that your mind becomes TOO filled with thoughts and your mind can't cope and you enter a state of numbness.... electro shock therapy interrupts the many synapses and thus slows down the brain and keeps you more calm and alert... the pros of electroshock therapy is that:
1. usually more effective than meds...
2. recover in a shorter time than when on meds...
unfortunately you risk losing your short term memory and things in recent history...
had roti prata for dinner with aaron.. then aaron drove me and kenneth back to my place so they could recee the route there... and they both met my parents ARGH....
haha... oh well will see what my parents think of aaron... hopefully everything went down well with them...
only time will tell...
